Welcome

The Diagnostic Parasitology Laboratory is a modern well equipped laboratory located in the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases here at the LSHTM.

The laboratory holds Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA, Ref. 2204) and for over 30 years it has offered a first class and rapid national reference service to NHS and private hospitals, private clinical laboratories, general practitioners and related healthcare bodies within the UK.

The laboratory offers expertise in the identification of human parasites from all types of clinical specimens and also has expertise in the identification of intestinal parasites found in primates (see diagnostics section). It is linked with the PHE Malaria Reference Laboratory (http://www.malaria-reference.co.uk) also located in the department.

For details about the structure, staffing and tests carried out by the laboratory you can view or download a pdf version of the User Handbook. Please note that this document is only valid at the time of download and is subject to change.

Wherever possible laboratories are requested to use our referral forms which may be down loaded by using this link: 'Referral form'. We will accept laboratories own forms if necessary.
